The Compost Club will fundamentally change the way schools and businesses handle waste across California. We are spearheading the Compost Movement, much like the Recycling movement, created over 40 years ago.
According to the Product Policy Institute, only 3% of food waste is currently recycled. Yet, it is the largest single category of waste at landfills across the nation. The USEPA considers landfills to contribute to 31% of all methane production, accounting for the largest human caused source related to global warming. California has successfully diverted 52% of most recyclables. California can and will do the same with food and organic waste- this is our vision and work.
